6th Grade Band
Students who elect to participate in band in fifth grade will get to choose their instrument and learn the basics of how to play it as well as read music, comprehend basic musical concepts, and then come together and play as a whole group!
6th Grade Band will pick up where students left off in fifth grade, utilizing method books to further hone their skills as they rehearse as a whole group and participate in both small group and individual lessons. These students will also be given the opportunity to participate in Pep Band activities.
7/8 Grade Band
These students perform at an intermediate level, utilizing the musical concepts they've learned in previous years of instrumental instruction and working toward mastery. The music they play is more complex both rhythmically and melodically. These students will be given the opportunity to participate in Pep Band and will be a part of the Cuba MHS Marching Band.
High School Band
Our high school students will be performing at an intermediate to advanced level, continuing to hone their skills toward mastery through ensemble and individual instruction. In addition to participating in the Cuba MHS Marching Band and having the opportunity to participate in Pep Band, these students will also be working on solo pieces throughout the year.

Required Materials: All 6-12 music students are required to have a notebook, folder, and two pencils. The notebook cannot be shared with any other class unless it is with another music class (such as if they are in both choir and band), as it will be periodically collected. They are responsible for remembering to bring their materials to class each day and copying any notes or assignments into their notebook in the event they forget.
